Management, Consulting, and Licensing Team Since its inception, EPC set up a series of
six requirements that need to be met before a product becomes an EPC patented product. Bertram V. Burke, Ph.D., CEO Dr. Burke co-founded EPC in February 1993. Bert is the inventor of the Company’s products and the Company’s chief strategist. Prior to EPC, he was the Founder and the CEO of Infrastructure Protection Systems. Inc. (IPS). IPS is a designer and manufacturer of products that solve the leaking of expansion bridges and parking garages. Bert invented and patented bridge joint systems for IPS. Previous to IPS, he was a management consultant specializing in product design and organizational development for Trans America, E F Hutton, Summit Bank, United Counties Trust Bank, Home Life Insurance, Hanover Securities, General Relay, Kings Supermarkets, and Keenan McLaughlin. He holds a BA from Seton Hall University (South Orange, NJ) in psychology and philosophy, a MS from Yeshiva University in psychology (NYC), PhD from Walden University in psychology and strategic change (Minneapolis, MN) and completed his psychoanalytic training at Washington Square Psychoanalytic Institute (NYC). Previous to becoming a business entrepreneur, he was a NJ licensed psychologist and conducted a private practice specializing as a psychoanalyst, sports psychologist, college professor and an expert witness in criminal murder trials, civil lawsuits involving psychological trauma, and zoning hearings, involving pedestrian traffic patterns. Dr. Burke is the listed inventor of eight patents and six pending patents. Michaela C. Burke, Executive Vice President Michaela Burke is a co-founder of the Company and a very active player in the development of EPC’s patent portfolio. She is the Secretary of the Corporation and is responsible for the management of the Company’s AutoGive customers and nonprofit groups. She has a diverse background being an owner/operator of retail stores, an importer of consumer goods, and as a teacher and a TV entertainer in Japan. She is a graduate of Kean College and studied at Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan and NYU (NYC). Steve Kamp has served as the Acting CFO for the Company’s since its inception. He has advised the Company on multiple issues regarding the financing and operations of the Company. His experience includes corporate finance positions with Price Waterhouse, PaineWebber, and Merrill Lynch. Throughout his career he has initiated a wide spectrum of investment banking activities including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, equity offerings, public offerings, venture capital, and limited partnerships. Steve is a graduate of George Washington University and received an MBA from Harvard Business School in finance and marketing. He has also completed studies in electrical and mechanical engineering. Michaela Forker, Marketing/Sales/Branding Consultant Kaela has provided ongoing consulting services to EPC since its inception. Her professional career includes merchandising and sales management positions with American Pacific Enterprises and Ralph Lauren Footwear. As the National Sales and Marketing Manager (VP) for American Pacific, she was charged with responsibilities for marketing, corporate branding, and joint venture relationships. In her position, she was also responsible for marketing and selling the company’s products to major national corporate accounts such as Federated, May Co., Mercantile, and Atkins, etc. Included in her sales responsibility was the negotiation of pricing and promotional support for all major accounts, as well as coordinating company and account advertising, in-store demonstrations and seminars. As a brand manager and joint venture designer, she introduced new products to buyers at trade markets, analyze projects, and plan seasons' business with accounts. In doing so she identified clients' needs and problems and created the needed solutions. Effective January 2008, she became Co-CEO of American Pacific. Kaela holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Marketing and International Trade from the Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC. She also studied at the American University of Rome. Francis P. Clark, POS Merchant Consultant Fran Clark has provided leadership, technical representation, and strategic planning for licensing the Company’s products to the supermarket sector. His thirty-two year career in the supermarket industry includes being a store manager, regional manager, and VP of Store Systems in two top tier supermarket chains. He is recognized as an industry leader in strategic planning and implementation of various systems including scanning, RF and satellite technologies. He was an active participant in the creation of and subsequent installation of IBM Electronic Marketing. He was instrumental in bringing new technologies to the industry including Self Scanning, Electronic Shelf Labels, Integrated Scale Systems, In Store Laser and In Lane Thermal Printers. Fran created and subsequently chaired, for five years, the first IBM customer Focus Group for the Retail Industry. In addition, he has recently held the position of VP, Technology Solutions for the leading distributor of IBM POS terminals to the supermarket and retail sector. He holds a BS degree in Business Administration from Adrian College with Training and Development Certification from Fairfield University and a variety of technical programs from IBM, Microsoft, etc. Shawn Winters, Operations Manager Shawn Winters has provided technical consulting services to the Company for the past seven years. During this time he has served as the Company’s MIS Director and Webmaster. Using his technical skills he designed the EPC Network and implemented three versions of the EPC website. In addition to consulting for EPC he was a senior programmer and webmaster for J&J Schatzi Corp., IT manager for theworks USA, Inc., and is currently an IT Consultant at S.T.F. Consulting. Shawn holds a BA in psychology from Rutgers University, a MBA from Monmouth University, and holds many technical certifications (MCSE 2000/2003, MCDBA, MCSA 2000.) Patent Counsel Jeffrey Kamenetsky, Esq. Jeffrey is a Registered Patent Attorney. He received his J.D., cum laude, from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, an M.B.A. from Hofstra University, and a B.S. in Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Jeff counsels clients in patent prosecution and trademark matters, as well as litigation and licensing matters, and has a broad patent prosecution practice encompassing a wide variety of technologies including medical devices, telecommunications, electrical and communication equipment, Internet, consumer goods, and computer-related technologies. Jeff has significant experience in dealing with international disputes related to import of products into the United States. A significant portion of his practice includes undertaking studies and drafting legal opinions regarding patent validity and infringement. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Kamenetsky worked as an electrical engineer for the United States Air Force and a manager in industry. A past President of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Florida, Mr. Kamenetsky is an active member of the International Trademark Association and the Florida Bar Association. In addition to being registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Jeff is licensed to practice law in Florida and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
